Communication is the sending and receiving of messages in the form of sharing of ideas, facts, opinions, information and understanding. It is the transfer or transmission of some information and understanding from one person to another. This power of communication involving the transmission of a message from a sender to a receiver and back, through radio has led to the emergence of the community radio movement in India as a viable medium for the voiceless to bring their concerns to the state's attention, a substantial change in the participation of small communities in the democratic process. The distinctive feature of community radio is that it is not only owned by the community but the community is the producer as well as the audience of this medium.
